note from our founder:
First of all, thanks to all who attended the 2005 Celebration at City/County Plaza. I can safely say that it was a weekend I will never forget and that would not have happened without everyone's help and support. A big thanks to all our sponsors who donated their resources locally and from around the country. You are the ones that know this work is from the bottom of my heart and I thank you greatly for helping us make more people aware of environmental concerns.
Lots of good work has been going on behind the scenes this year to make the Asheville Earth Day Celebration a better event for the community as a whole. We have been lucky enough to form a core team that is dedicated to the mission and philosophy of the event not only in the short-term but also moving farther down the road. This team is comprised of some of the brightest talent Asheville has to offer. Each member is very knowledgeable in their respective duties, from advertising/marketing or graphic design to food and beverage vending. We think you will be thrilled to go through this process of change with us.
However, it is with a heavy heart that we have decided to not have the Celebration in 2006. This decision was made for various reasons, the least of which being the facelift City-County Plaza is currently undergoing. Let me reassure you that we have turned our focus to 2007 and will be moving forward to make the weekend of April 13th-14th the most all encompassing Earth Day event in Western North Carolina, if not the state.
We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this has caused and we hope you will take a look around at our previous year's web sites. Even though there is not an event this year, you can still educate yourself on how you can be a better steward of your Earth by clicking on links to non-profits.
We will be updating this site as the year progresses with news of our advancements. Updates will include a new look to the web site and an earlier than usual announcement of musical acts. We will also let you know about a unique partnership with a local group that will allow several Earth friendly events to happen not only in April but throughout the year...because everyday is Earth Day! However, we can't let the cat out of the bag on that
quite yet.
So, it is with much motivation and anticipation that we move forward into our planning for 2007 and hope you will fully understand our logic when you come celebrate the Earth with us in April 2007. Until then, 'keep on the sunny side.'
Sincerely,
David L.N. Dean |
